Under the terms of Board Decision No. 38 of 2017, based on the results of the preliminary environmental assessment, a confirmatory environmental investigation plan is performed. This second stage of the environmental assessment aims to:

• Confirm or not the existence of soil and groundwater contamination by investigating the potential and primary sources, identified during the preliminary assessment.
• Obtain initial data necessary for the physical environment characterization 
• Verify the need for a detailed investigation in case of confirmation of contaminants occurrence in concentrations above the applicable quality standards.
• Generate the confirmatory investigation report, which should contain the conceptual model 2 (MCA 2) and the recommendation of the measures to be adopted according to the results obtained.
