Agriculture is the basis of our food supply, yet also a relevant source of greenhouse gases. To achieve the net zero goal by 2050, we need to reduce emissions and expand carbon sinks. Ecosystems can help us to reach this goal.
We support public authorities, associations and companies to attain their climate targets. We calculate the carbon footprints of agricultural activities and quantify carbon sink performance.
We also combine ecological models with greenhouse gas balances to show how ecosystems can contribute to net zero goals. We calculate how much carbon is stored in ecosystems and what it would take to expand carbon sinks and reduce emissions.
How we support you:
- greenhouse gas accounting
- ecosystem modeling
- estimating carbon sink performance
- providing support to set science-based targets for the forestry, land-use and agricultural sectors
- developing climate protection projects
- facilitating participatory, multi-stakeholder processes Providing training and further education
