For Switzerland to achieve its net-zero target by 2050, the country will need to offset its unavoidable, man-made greenhouse gas emissions by removing carbon from the atmosphere and storing it.

Negative emissions technologies (NET), such as carbon dioxide removal (CDR), and net zero emission technologies, such as carbon removal from industrial plants (carbon capture and storage (CCS), can contribute to Switzerland’s net-zero target.

Within a rapidly expanding field of  CDR and CCS methods, EBP supports its clients to understand the advantages and disadvantages of different CDR and CCS options.

We can support you:

  • in designing and developing new projects in the areas of NET and CCS
  • with validating and verifying NET and CCS projects
  • in identifying the potential opportunities and risks associated with NET and CCS projects
  • with evaluating NET projects aimed at neutralizing residual emissions

With our experience and knowledge of CDR and CCS methods, as well as with Swiss climate instruments, we support our clients in developing NET and CCS projects and in examining the potential and risks of these technologies.

EBP has been an active member of the Swiss Carbon Removal Platform since its founding in 2021, and currently co-leads the organization’s Policy Working Group.
