While Switzerland has many policy measures in place to reduce energy consumption, other regulations may actually be counterproductive. Working on behalf of the Swiss Energy Foundation (Schweizerische Energie-Stiftung SES), we examined which existing regulations increase energy consumption and undermine energy efficiency. Altogether, we identified 112 misdirected incentives in various policy areas and quantified the considerable energy-saving potential associated with their elimination.
