Chur is one of Switzerland’s warmest cities. With climate change the urban heat island effect is expected to increase further. We developed a heat mitigation concept for the city, which identifies areas that are particularly affected by heat stress, defines mitigation measures and describes how these can be implemented. Existing heat assessments were used for the work. The concept serves as a basis for the ongoing revision of land-use planning regulations and other mitigation measures.
Our services
- Assessing the climatic situation and the urban heat island effect based on existing heat assessments and models
- Identifying areas that are particularly affected by heat stress
- Conducting an in-depth analysis and specifying measures in four focus areas
- Identifying effective interventions to reduce heat
- Describing implementation of interventions
