On behalf of the Swiss Federal Council, the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) prepared a national earthquake pre-paredness plan in a participative elaborated. As external project manager, we clarified the tasks and responsibilities of more than 75 stakeholders involved in earthquake mitigation, management and recovery. We then identified 30 fields of action at the federal and cantonal levels, outlined action proposals and created a guideline for cantonal preparedness planning. We also developed a monitoring concept so that the federal government can effectively implement the measures.
