The landslide “Brienzer Rutsch” endangers the village of Brienz/Brinzauls (GR) and parts of neighboring villages. Also at risk are cantonal roads, the railway and important supply infrastructures. We analyzed the risks associated with the permanent landslide, as well as various rock fall scenarios. We also calculated how much various measures could reduce the risk. The results of our analysis provided a sound basis for the decision by the authorities to finance and implement the drainage tunnel.
