Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is planning a 30-km tunnel link between Aarau and Zurich. The planned tunnel, emergency stop, technical centers, and access structures are situated in solid rock and in loose rock containing ground water. In the preliminary study, we design an optimal route and plan the complex integration points as well as all the required structures. Careful planning of the structures, installation areas, material management and compliance with environmental law are crucial for the approvability.
