Featuring more than 300 indicators, the canton of Zurich’s “Community Portrait” statistical atlas offers a wealth of important information about Zurich’s various municipalities. We provided support in revising the UX concept. The broad target group presented a particular challenge, ranging from data specialists to municipal representatives and students. Using an iterative approach, we developed a clear user navigation, validated usability and ensured its compatibility with the canton’s corporate design and the statistical office’s component library. Using interactive design prototypes, we conducted user tests and systematically optimized the UX, UI and microcopy. Our final design prototype now serves the office as a specification for development.
