The main aim of the Swiss Second Homes Act, which came into effect in 2016, is to limit the construction of second homes in certain municipalities. Working on behalf of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Rütter Soceco, a subsidiary of EBP, examined the law’s economic impact. In particular, we focused on its impact on tourism, the regional economy, and tax revenue, as well as on the various adaptation processes and innovations triggered by the Second Homes Act. Our study results served as a basis for a report issued by the Swiss Federal Council.
