The Clean Heat Forum (CHF) is an international collaboration aimed at identifying best practices, creating standards, and accelerating the decarbonization of heating in buildings, led by the UK Government and RMI through GlobalABC.

EBP Chile, in partnership with In-Data SPA, conducted a characterization of cold and heat usage in Chile through bibliographic analysis and interviews with relevant stakeholders to capture their perspectives for the future. This study is part of a foundational exercise being carried out by CHF members, with the following scope:

  • Provide a detailed characterization of the current residential building stock and heating mix in Chile.
  • Analyze the Chilean political context regarding residential heating.
  • Organize discussions with key stakeholders to understand both the value that the Clean Heat Forum can bring to Chile and whether the Chilean government is interested in participating or taking a leadership role in the Clean Heat Forum.

The evaluation concluded with recommendations to consider in the short and medium term when developing an efficient energy strategy, taking into account the marked sectoral differences in energy demands due to the country's climatic diversity.
