EBP assisted the Municipality of Temuco in diagnosing its main building, determining measures to be implemented, preparing the technical aspects, and overseeing their proper execution. 

As part of the "Energy Efficiency Program for Existing Homes and Buildings," submitted in collaboration with the Municipalities of Coyhaique and Bern, the capital of Switzerland, the Municipality of Temuco has been advancing the energy renovation of its City Hall, located at Arturo Prat No. 650, across from Aníbal Pinto Square in Temuco.

This project is also one of the prioritized projects in the Local Energy Strategy of the municipality.

The work includes:

• A complete diagnosis of the building in 2016 regarding its energy consumption and the internal comfort level for municipal staff and users.
• The development and technical-economic prioritization of proposals for measures to improve the building's energy performance and increase internal comfort.
• The preparation of technical specifications and plans for the tendering of works to improve the building's thermal envelope (roof, walls, windows, doors, solar protections) and the implementation of a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system on part of the main facade.
• Support for the Technical Inspection of Works during the execution of the thermal envelope improvement and photovoltaic generation.
• Monitoring the comfort level in the building and the amount of electricity generated to assess the impact of the implemented measures.

Currently, the terms of reference are under review to allow for the tendering of the work before the end of 2017.

In parallel, the Municipality of Temuco has begun the process to change its electricity tariff. It is estimated that this single management measure, identified in the building diagnosis, could generate savings of nearly 6 million pesos per year.

In 2018, opportunities will be sought to replace the heating system with a water-water heat pump and to install an appropriate ventilation system.
