Beavers, introduced years ago, have felled trees and flooded forests in Tierra del Fuego. In light of this reality, the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, within the framework of Chile's National Strategy on Climate Change and Vegetation Resources, have commissioned a study titled: "The Restoration of Ecological Processes through the Restoration of the Forest Stratum in Areas Affected and Abandoned by Beavers (Castor canadensis, Kuhl) in Tierra del Fuego."

This initiative aims to evaluate restoration methods that promote the recovery of affected forests and serve as technical references for the subsequent scaling of these actions. EBP Chile, together with the local consulting firm Ruydo, is conducting a study in the following manner:

  1. Implementation of 27 hectares of forest restoration through planting in clusters with native species, using living and dead ecological legacies to protect the new plants.
  2. Analysis of results and development of technical and financial recommendations for scaling up the restorative actions.
