The state capital Kiel, together with the districts of Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Plön and the city of Neumünster, has set itself the task of further developing the diverse range of commercial space in the region and marketing it more effectively as a joint venture.
The commercial space development concept (GEFEK) is one of the central projects of the regional development concept (REK) for the Kiel region, which was drawn up by EBP in 2013 and has now been successfully implemented.
Economic development agencies and spatial planners are working together in a planning dialogue and have recorded, examined, and evaluated the commercial space in planning area II. How large is the existing stock? What potential exists? Which companies and which industries will be looking for space in the future? And what are our joint strengths in the competition between regions to attract new businesses?
In cooperation with Regionomica Berlin (www.regionomica.de), EBP supported the planning dialogue with analysis, evaluation, and forecasts, accompanied the comprehensive regional participation process, and formulated recommendations.
Based on the results presented (www.kiwi-kiel.de), joint economic development will be intensified.
