By updating its INSEK (Integrated urban development concept), the city of Eberswalde aims to adapt to changing challenges such as urban growth, climate change, and shifts in urban society.

Text

The city of Eberswalde has been growing significantly since 2014 – a development that was not foreseeable in the previous concept. This has made it necessary to realign the city's development strategy.
The new urban development strategy starts with an assessment of the status quo. All relevant topics such as housing, education, population development, economy, energy, climate, mobility, and culture are examined. We look at the extent to which the goals set so far have been achieved.
The next and most important building block is the development of the strategy: How can we organize growth without taking up large amounts of new land? How does the city intend to adapt to climate change? How can we succeed in keeping the urban community together? These are many questions to which we want to find answers in the strategy.
In the final component, we will take a look at the measures and projects that are relevant for implementing the strategy. The participation of the urban community (responsible: polidia GmbH) and the involvement of the administration and politicians are essential for the overall process.
