The name “Haus Demmin” refers to the ruins of a Pomeranian princely castle and a manor house on a peninsula at the confluence of the Peene and Tollense rivers. The castle ruins are the oldest surviving secular building in Pomerania. The Hanseatic city of Demmin is planning to revitalize the approximately 6-hectare site.
The feasibility study is intended to provide fundamental information on the suitability of the existing buildings and the surrounding land for various uses. Due to the historical significance of the site, its development must take into account the interests of building and archaeological conservation, nature conservation, and the public interest. The feasibility study should enable informed strategic decisions to be made on the extent to which development of the property is sensible and economically feasible. The study will also identify approaches for how and by whom Haus Demmin could be developed and what conditions need to be created for this.
