Multimodal transportation systems are essential for moving people and goods, and they play an important role in benefiting the economies and communities they serve. We support state departments of transportation, metropolitan and regional planning organizations, cities, and federal agencies in making data-driven decisions regarding these integral systems. We leverage our planning, evaluation, and economics expertise to conduct thorough analysis of the impacts and opportunities of highway and integrated multimodal transportation projects, programs, policies, and investments. Our highway and multimodal services include:

  • Evaluating social, economic, and environmental effects of proposed investments
  • Conducting benefit-cost analysis, economic impact assessment, and tax impact analysis,
  • Supporting multi-objective decision-making and project prioritization,
  • Assessing transportation needs to support economic development and growth plans over the short-, mid-, and long-term,
  • Analyzing economic implications of proposed changes in road pricing, tolls, and related policies,
  • Scenario analysis, including consideration of investment mixes and external factors, and
  • Support for long-range transportation and freight planning, including forecasting, trend analysis, and program evaluation

Additionally, we are a research leader in multimodal transportation policy and issues of sustainability, resilience, livability, and accessibility. Our research has supported agencies including the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Federal Highway Administration, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
